Audio Sermons on the Internet

A few years ago, a friend of mine giving me a grocery bag full of sermon tapes from a renowned preacher. He probably gave me some 250 tapes. I remember being quite excited about the prospect of being spiritually nourished by these sermons. However, with the ever-increasing presence of the internet in the lives of many, such a gift is available to all who have an internet connection. Many, many churches are placing the audio of their sermons on the internet, free for the use of all.

As a pastor of a local church, one of my duties is to speak forth the message of the gospel so that others might hear and come to believe. In my own preparation to preach, I have found great profitability in listening to others preach. They often stir my heart in a way that reading doesn't. Perhaps this is due to the nature of our faith. It has been said that Christianity is a religion of the ear. Jesus told the churches, "He who has an ear, let him hear" (Revelation 2:7). The means of our faith is not the eye, but the ear. We don't see the risen Christ is all of His glory. But, rather, we have heard of Him and have come to love Him (1 Peter 1:8).

During any given week, I probably listen to half a dozen sermons given by others. This is made especially easy with the use of an mp3 player, which allows me to listen as I drive from place to place or do chores around the house. Below are a few links to sites that the Lord has used to help me grow in love to Christ. Most of these sites are updated weekly. I commend them to you.
